Relationships: Applications for Living by Neale Donald Walsch

Neale Donald Walsch is the famous author of ‘Conversations with God’. In this book Relationships: Applications for Living, he talks about human relationships. And more specifically a man-woman relationship and relationship that people call marriage. He talks mostly about his personal experiences. The relationship that he shares with his wife and the woman that he dated before he met his wife.

I honestly did not find anything new in the book. It is all about letting the other person be themselves and allowing yourself to be yourself with your partner. Well if you can practically do that, if you can let go of all the walls between the two of you, you can actually have the ideal relationship. But ideal things exist in the ideal world. Also, we have been conditioned from the time we are born about certain human behaviors, which I think is the biggest barrier to human relationships. This conditioning does not let us be ourselves even when we are alone. Let alone in the presence of anyone else.

I like a few quotes in the book, and which I kind of believe in:

  • Living with you is like living alone
  • My will for you is your will for you
  • Sometimes goodness (mate) comes to you in packages that are quite unexpected
  • The words Joy, Love, and Freedom are interchangeable

It’s a small 80-page book that you can read if you like the message in the above quotes.

  1. I first read “Conversations” about 8 years ago and it brought me great peace. I particularly enjoyed reading in the books about how earlier in the Earth’s history, females had all the major leadership roles. It told how men were able to take over to the way things are now. Quite fascinating.
