I had reviewed Happy Birthday! by Meghna Pant earlier this month, and publishers Random House offered to sponsor a Give Away of the book. There are 5 copies up for grabs. Answer this question creatively and win a copy:
What would be your perfect birthday celebration?
About the Book: Happy Birthday! is a celebration of the complex, mysterious inner lives of our fellow human beings, by the award-winning novelist Meghna Pant. A dedicated friend undertakes one last labour of love for a childless woman. Nadia – married into money – finds herself facing uncomfortable truths about her comfortably numb marriage. A Mumbai slum-girl dreams of speaking words valuable enough to be translated into English. A retired civil servant of modest means struggles to support his snooty foreign-returned daughter. Meghna Pant’s knife – sharp stories are compelling, emotionally intelligent and provide a rare glimpse into the strange workings of the human heart. They evade neat categorization and are the perfect read for all curious spirits.
About the Author: Meghna Pant is an author and financial journalist.  One & A Half Wife—Meghna’s debut novel—was published in 2012 to critical and commercial acclaim. It went into multiple reprints, won the Muse India’s Young Writer Award, and was shortlisted for several other awards, including the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. Meghna’s short stories have been published in over a dozen global literary magazines, including Avatar Review, Wasafari, Eclectica and QLRS. An economics graduate with an MBA in finance, Meghna has worked as a TV anchor for Times Now, NDTV Profit and Bloomberg-UTV. A nomad at heart, she has lived in Delhi, Singapore, Zurich, Dubai and New York City. She is currently based in Mumbai.
Meghna will be donating fifty per cent of the proceeds from Happy Birthday! to Safar Trust, a Mumbai-based NGO that helps slum children and trafficked girls lead financially stable lives.

“Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday Mr. Preside…” Wouldn’t having Marilyn Monroe singing be perfect? Since she is no more, I’ll be happy with Anne Hathaway (celeb crush) taking over 🙂
Dinner at a traditional cuisine restaurant set up to fund an organization that works for disabled children, with birthday gifts only in cash, to be donated to an organization working to provide contextual learning to children in underserved environments and an ecologically responsible community center for classical and folk arts. Yes. 🙂
Perfect birthday is another day with the twist that one reflects on ones life of the previous year and plans the year ahead. A day toshare with those who matter in life. A day to give them love and receive their love. All this packaged in any format is a perfect birthday
My perfect birthday celebration would be one where all my friends and family gathered to present me heaps of books, preferably from my Flipkart wish list!
Great…I use my Flipkart wishlist to tell people what they need to gift me.
Now that would be an evening at home with family and friends cherishing the past, discussing possibilities.
a day where i get to do some charity for a good social cause and evening with wine and a light dinner of snacks
